Florida Businesses Agree It's Time to Pass the Competitive Workforce Act

Hundreds of Florida businesses have joined Florida Competes because they agree statewide LGBT non-discrimination protections are necessary to growing Florida's economy and building its brand as one of the #1 places to do business. Now they're calling on lawmakers to pass the Competitive Workforce Act to ensure all hardworking Floridians are protected from discrimination—and to send a message to the world that Florida is open for business to everyone.

Hispanics have powered Florida's population growth since 2000, currently ranking third in the country. The Competitive Workforce Act will not only benefit our network of 80,000 small business owners, but all Floridians as it sends a signal that Florida is a welcoming place to work and grow a business. Julio Fuentes, FSHCC President and CEO
Protecting gay and transgender Floridians from discrimination isn't just morally the right thing to do, it's prerequisite if our state wants to be relevant and economically competitive in the global market. This year, the legislature has the opportunity to send a signal that Florida is open for business—to everyone. Florida lawmakers should not miss this critical opportunity to help our economy and enhance our global credibility. John Tonnison, Tech Data Executive Vice President and CIO
